Adept
Adept magic is on the two base types of magic, the other being Elemental magic. Adept mages have dedicated their life and magical potential to a single set of powers, although the scope of these powers might vary.
Description
Powers can range from burrowing underground to having an immunity to fire. Based on the concept of there being no gain without loss, many Adepts have weaknesses that may cause trouble for them. A poignant example is the unnamed attacker in the first book, who made himself impervious to fire but is killed upon entering a large body of water. Another example is Frightening Jones, who has the ability to fire beams of heat from his eyes but cannot keep a high intensity for long and is also blinded for a short time after he uses them. Not all Adept magic is combat-related.

Elemental
Elemental magic is one of the two base types of magic, the other being Adept magic. It involves the manipulation of fire, earth, water and air for both offensive and defensive purposes. While elemental magic is one of the two major magical disciplines, it is less practiced than adept, most probably due to the difficulty of mastering all four elements. While adept sorcerers concentrate on developing only one certain type of magic (and maybe combat skills), elemental practitioners have to divide their attention between fire, earth, air and water.
Fire
The flashiest and most used of the four elements, this power is mostly used to hurl fireballs at foes. This also is the only element which does not require outside source to be present in order to manipulate it. The sorcerers create the fire in their palms or around their body, as use it for various purposes. This allows for speculation that unlike the other elements, fire is the most powerful one, as its level of destructive power solely depends on the magical abilities of the sorcerer. However, fire still requieres oxygen to be present, and as such, it is not very useful in closed areas.
Uses - Users can create streams of fire from their hands.
Fire can be utilised to manipulate flames into whatever the user pleases, like a wall of fire for example.
Users envelop their body with fire, and then "throw" streams of it.
Users can throw fire balls.

Air
Air magic is the most versatile and at times, the most powerful of the four elements. Flight seems to take more out of the user.

Necromancer
Necromancy is the Adept discipline that allows its practitioners to harness the energy of the dead and manipulate it so that they can control darkness and shadows.Necromancers, such as Solomon Wreath, are a group of people who study Necromancy. They are mainly located in the Temple.
Necromancers store all of their power in a certain object they own. Lord Vile stored his power in his armor, which Baron Vengeous spent so long looking for as it had the powers of the greatest Necromancer to ever live. In The Faceless Ones, it is said that Solomon Wreath stores his in his cane, and his two companion Necromacers store theirs in a cloak and flintlock pistol, respectively. It is unknown why a Necromancer choses to store their power in an object but it is most likely to aid the use of their magic.

Teleporter
A Teleporter is a person who can transport themselves to another location at will. Though they can teleport to locations they have not seen before, it is quite dangerous, as they may end up within a wall or other object. Visiting a place before attempting to teleport there later apparently solves this problem.
However Fletcher Renn is the last one alive.

Children Of The Spider
The Children of the Spider are a secretive organization of Spider mages lead by the Torment. Its followers utilize a magical ability that allows them to vomit and control spiders and to transform into gigantic spiders. The Children of the Spider are considered scary and reclusive, so much so that Erskine Ravel does not wish to allow Madam Mist to join him on the Sanctuary's ruling council of Elders. Despite their oddities however, the Children of the Spider are still fundamentally human, though Derek has implied that there is more to be revealed about this strange Adept discipline.
The Children of the Spider are based in the town of Roarhaven, and so wish for the new Irish Sanctuary building also to be there.

Symbol Magic
Symbol Magic is most likely a branch of Adept magic, known to be used by China Sorrows and her students.
Symbols can be placed either on the body as a tattoo, or drawn on to other objects as well as dirt, as seen in China's Library. The signs are activated by a series of taps on them, and serve many different purposes. They can be used as offensive energy attacks, defensive walls, escape methods, and other miscellaneous things, such as making tea.

When night comes they rip their skin off and and turn into vicious killer beasts that seek out blood at any costs.
powers
They posses super human strength and agility. Their speed and agility has often been described as unnatural and inhuman as they can make no sound whilst walking. All vampires have an extreme weakness to salt water. However, a vampire can use a concoction of hemlock and wolfsbane to stay in human form during the night.
Vampires are fundamentally immortal, and unlike normal Sorcerers, do not age and can, in theory, live forever.
